I didn’t set out to become a leadership practitioner.

My work with people and nature started long before KSI Expeditions existed.

I grew up with a strong connection to the outdoors and spent much of my professional life exploring what happens when people step outside their familiar environment.

I am a sociologist, wilderness guide and facilitator of leadership development. Over the years, I have worked and trained in outdoor adventure education, nature-based development and regenerative leadership, including extensive experience in the Scandinavian wilderness.

Today, I bring these different worlds together through KSI Expeditions.

From sociology to wilderness

My background in sociology taught me to look beyond the individual.

We are shaped by the groups we belong to, the systems we participate in and the environments in which we live and work.

Wilderness taught me something complementary.

When the usual structures disappear, we encounter ourselves differently.

You cannot always plan your way through uncertainty.
You cannot separate yourself from your surroundings.
And you quickly discover that independence is often an illusion.

These experiences changed the way I think about leadership.

Learning through experience

I trained as an International Wilderness Guide in Finland and have spent many years learning and working in Scandinavian wilderness environments.

I have also worked in outdoor adventure education, nature coaching and leadership development, and I am an alumnus of the Regenerators Academy.

Along the way, I became increasingly interested in a simple question:

What happens when leadership development moves from the classroom into lived experience?

KSI is my ongoing exploration of that question.

A relational view of leadership

My work is increasingly informed by the idea of kinship.

Leadership is often discussed in terms of influence, performance and decision-making.

I am interested in something more fundamental:

How do we relate?

To ourselves.
To other people.
To the places we inhabit.
And to the living world of which we are part.

For me, this is not an abstract philosophy. It is something that can be experienced.

A relationship with a landscape.
A shared struggle on a trail.
Silence around a fire.
A decision made when conditions change.
The simple awareness that you are not doing this alone.

These experiences can change how we see ourselves — and how we lead.

Why KSI?

I founded KSI Expeditions to create the kind of experiences I believe leadership development needs more of.

Less theory for the sake of theory.

More experience.

More space.

More attention.

More honest encounters with ourselves, with others and with the world around us.

I don’t have a fixed formula for becoming a better leader.

What I offer is a carefully held environment in which something meaningful can happen.

And I believe that sometimes the best place to discover how you lead is somewhere far outside the office.
